Today we as a county thank the men and women that serve/have served to defend the freedoms our great nation was founded upon. Thank you.
Grandpa Brotherson got to participate in what is called an Honor Flight – a one day whirlwind trip to Washington D.C. to observe the World War II memorial. The experience must have been truly amazing. KC Star has a more in depth article explaining the honor flight.
Thank you Grandpa.

Lindsay won free tickets to see Earth, Wind and Fire with Chicago at the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie last Saturday. The Nokia Theatre is a nice venue – fully air conditioned and seats near 7000.
The show was good. I was a tad disappointed as I wasn’t born when these bands were in their prime with all original members and with replacements it just doesn’t feel the same. Both bands played together for the opening which was Chicago’s tune Beginnings. While not quite as long as the original it was an interesting mix with the two groups playing. Earth, Wind and Fire played a set that started out with high energy but quickly dissolved into their standard ballads. It seemed like forever until they played September. Chicago came out next and played many of their slower songs from the 80’s which made the concert seem slow and dramatic. I started to wonder if I’d get to hear the only two songs I came for: Does Anyone Know What Time it is? and 25 or 6 to 4. Alas, when EWF came out for the close to join them, they played the songs!
Overall it was a nice experience, save for the $30 for two hot dogs and two beers. I’m glad I got to see them but wish I was alive in the early 70’s to see these guys and many of the other band of that period.

I put my foot down six months ago and said no more fostering. I even bought Lindsay the little Ziggy guy. Our hearts are just too big. The race season came to a close and GALT has over 100 dogs to place. They are in dire need of foster homes for these dogs as over 40 of them are being boarded at various kennels at a cost of $8 per day per dog. Not only is it a huge cost to GALT but the dogs have a better time at a person’s home. We picked up our foster dog yesterday and she is doing her best to fit in. Yeah, we’re animal people.

Our combined electric/gas bill from CoServ came yesterday. It is the cheapest bill we’ve had since buying this house and also counting the year we rented on the east side of Frisco – $157! The electric charges were just $100.15 which is simply amazing. I’ll enjoy this while I can as last summer we hit $600 as the highest bill. Most of the reduction is attributable to the weather as we didn’t have to run the heat or the air conditioning much at all.
